Following the blast that shook Dadar yesterday evening, school authorities in the area are afraid. But amid the fear and the anxiety most school authorities in the area have taken the decision of carrying on classes as scheduled.
Praveen Tyagi, the managing director of IITians's Pace at Dadar said, "The incident is very sad and the government should take some action against these attacks. We have 400 students at the Dadar branch and fortunately, no student has been affected. We are going to carry on with the classes."
No govt directive
Principal of Smt Kamla Mehta Dadar School for the blind Suparna Ajgaonkar was saddened by the news of the blast.
She said, "We were going to celebrate our Foundation Day. However, after the explosion, we doubt any of our donors will come for the function. School will be on as usual but we leave the responsibility with the parents if they wish to send their children to class."
When MiD DAY asked other schools if they had decided on taking classes today, many of them stated that they had not made the decision and were waiting for the government to pass a decision in the matter.
Owen Pereira, caretaker of Dr Antonio Da Silva High school at Dadar near Kabutar Khana told MiD DAY that he was present in school when the explosion occurred. "Five windows of the school are smashed, as bomb went off right outside our compound wall.
The blast occurred at 6.45 pm and our school ends at 6 pm. There was nobody in school except for Carol ma'am - the principal and I when the explosion occurred.

I felt a huge vibration at the time of the blast." Pereira added that since the school authorities had left for the day, he was unsure if the school would carry out class as usual.
Amol Dhamdhere, secretary, Indian Education Society, Dadar (West), also stated that the government should make the decision to continue schools and not schools themselves.
