Underdog Daksha Pathak stunned favourite Jui Kalgutkar to storm into the girls' U-15 semi-finals of the 36th Bombay Gymkhana-HSBC Maharashtra State Open Squash Championship, at the Bombay Gymkhana yesterday.
Pathak, the U-13 runner-up at last week's Littler Masters squash tournament, rallied from 1-2 to a thrilling 1-11, 11-2, 8-11, 12-10, 11-7 win.
Pathak snatched the crucial fourth set over extra points to keep her hopes alive, and held on to a vital lead to win the decider.u00a0
Meanwhile, Ishaan Advaniu00a0 defeated second seed Rajat Sharma of Delhi 11-7, 11-6, 7-11, 11-8 to advance to the boys' U-17 semi-finals. Top seed Saumya Karki, Shria Khatri,u00a0 Shaheeda Madraswala and Urvashi Joshi entered the women's semi-finals.
Men's top seed Siddharth Suchde, who arrived from the US Open, and No 3 Gaurav Nandrajog of Delhi also advanced to the semi-finals with comfortable wins.
