Man murdered for dabbing colours on face of neighbour's mother

While celebrating Holi, little did Kuldeep Singh Pal (30) realise that he would have to pay dearly for a playful act.

Pal, a tempo driver, rubbed colours on the face of his neighbour's mother while playing Holi. However, the harmless incident turned ugly when later in the day, Pal entered into an altercation with his neighbours over the act, following which they bludgeoned him to death.

Pal was a resident of Line Bazaar area near Bombay Sappers, Khadki. The police has arrested three accused Yogesh Loknath Pathak (21) Gyansingh alais Bablu Thakur(39) and Kamaljeet alais Papau Thakur, all residents of the Line Bazar, on late Sunday night.

The three were produced in the court yesterday and have been remanded to police custody till March 24.

Police Inspector (crime) PB Gophane of the Vishrantwadi police station, said, "The incident occurred around 6.30 pm on Sunday. The accused delivered multiple blows smashing the victim's head with hockey sticks and pelted stones on his house. Earlier in the day, they were playing Holi with Pal when he reportedly put colours on the face of one of the their mother. Later, they conspired and killed Pal."

According to police, Pal's mother fainted after seeing her son being beaten up. Citing a medical emergency, his younger brother took her to a doctor.

In the meantime, a neighbour informed Pal's sister, who is married and lives at some distance, about her mother's condition.

"Pal's body was discovered after his sister came to see her mother. She wasn't informed about Pal being beaten up. She insisted on entering the house and was shocked to see the horrifying sight of her brother lying in a pool of blood," Gophane added.
