Delhi Police have solved the first of three cases of mutilated bodies found in nine days. A 48-year-old plumber has been arrested for allegedly murdering his live-in partner and then chopping her body into two parts in Delhi’s Amar Colony.

According to a report in Hindustan Times, a plumber named Balram allegedly saw Anarkali (43) in a compromising position with another person, cops said. Unable to control his anger, the man smashed her head with a hammer and then chopped her body using three knives. After that, he stuffed the upper portion of the body in an airbag and threw it in a drain, and the lower part in another.

The report added that cops found the body parts on December 3 and 4. Anarkali ran a tea shop in East of Kailash, and was reported missing a couple of days before her body was found. While investigating, police learnt that she was living with Balram when she went missing. Balram apparently told neighbours that Anarkali had gone to her village in Tamil Nadu. He was arrested on December 7 from Astha Kunj park based on a tip off, and confessed to his crime, cops said.
