Delhi is likely to get a new administrator soon. If top government sources are to be believed, Delhi Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Tejendra Khanna might not complete his five-year tenure, courtesy the Shunglu Committee report on Commonwealth Games scam.

The report that was released in May indicted the Lieutenant Governor in the scam. In the aftermath, sources said, Khanna might not complete the tenure that comes to an end in December, 2012.u00a0u00a0
Out of tune
"He has been facing problems with Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit for quite a long time. They have differed publicly on various issues," said a key Congress leader. "To add insult to injury, the Shunglu Committee report has given adverse report on Delhi Development Authority, headed by Khanna," said a top government official.

Contenders
Sources said the names of former Delhi Police Chief K K Paul, Former CBI Director Ashwini Sharma, former Cabinet Secretary K M Chadrashekhar and S P Aggarwal are now doing rounds in the power circles for the top post. Aggarwal has been on the board of directors for Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and has held various important positions in Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Power and Water departments in the city.

When contacted, LG Secretariat denied any knowledge. "I am not aware of this," said Ranjan Mukherjee, Officer on Special Duty to L-G. Khanna took over as Delhi L-G for the second time in 2007. He was earlier appointed as 16th L-G of Delhi in 1996, an office he served till April 1998.
