The Jains decided to cremate Tarishi in Gurgaon as it would have been difficult to transport her body by road to their hometown in Firozabad in Uttar Pradesh.

Haryana Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma, Gurgaon DCP TL Satyaprakash and other officials received Tarishi’s mortal remains at the airport. MoS for Power Minister Piyush Goyal, MoS Rao Inderjit Singh, other Haryana ministers and MLAs, among others, paid tributes to her.

Tarishi, a student of University of California-Berkeley, was in Dhaka on vacation. She had gone with her two friends to the cafe where she was killed by the IS gunmen.
