Mumbai: A police constable sustained injuries and had to be rushed to Chembur's Joy Hospital after a clash between Shiv Sena and MNS activists last night in Maharashtra Nagar at Mankhurd (South Central Lok Sabha constituency).
The incident took place after MNS activists alleged that money was being distributed by Shiv Sena activists.

A complaint has been lodged in Trombay police station.

Constable Ashok Thorbole underwent a surgery for multiple injuries he had sustained on Wednesday night and is now recuperating in the ICU of the hospital, said a hospital staff member.
An FIR has now been lodged after the police constable's vehicle was attacked with stones and a hockey stick by around 16 people who were named. In his statement to the police, the constable, said he was later beaten up with the hockey stick.
While he was first taken to civic-run Shatabdi Hospital but was later shifted to the private hospital for further treatment due to lack of adequate medical facilities.
Constable Thorbole is now stable after his ordeal and following his operation, he is now recuperating in the hospital.
Congress candidate from Mumbai South Central, Eknath Gaikwad, visited the hospital to meet the injured constable.
The candidates of this constituency are Rahul Shewale from Shiv Sena, Eknath Gaikwad a Congress candidate and Aditya Shirodkar an MNS candidate.
The case was filed against Shewale's wife Kamini under Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 143 (punishment for whoever is member of an unlawful assembly), 149 and 114 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
