End of an era: Mumbai's last DC local train gears up for final run
Central Railway will chuck its obsolete DC trains and ride the gravy train instead. As the Harbour line finally bids goodbye (and good riddance) to its 1,500-volt Direct Current (DC) system, here are photos of the last DC train gearing up for its final run.
GR Meena, the motorman, and AK Prasad, Guard, will be driving the last DC local train from Kurla to CST.
The arrangement and decorations are being done at Sanpada carshed.
They have fitted old photos of DC trains that first ran since 1925. It is seen inside the first class coach from CST end. Even door bolts and other paraphernalia have been changed to match the old look for this DC rake.
