Budding artists pay tribute to 10 world-renowned artists through The Akanksha Foundation's new line of products for the festive season

Twelve-year-old aspiring artists inspired by Van Gogh make for interesting copy. Especially when the end result is a stunning range of gift items ranging from clocks, trunks, furniture, coasters, mats, to tee lights, lanterns, photo frames, diaries, calendars, sketchbooks, art boxes, cards, pen stands, mouse pads, exam boards, T-shirts, rompers, bangles, shoes and canvas bags.

The entire festive range will be launched on Saturday at The Akanksha
Store

"The concept took shape during a special art camp that took place during the summer holidays in May. These kids lapped up the idea of creating art works while drawing inspiration from the great artists," says Ruchika Gupta, Director, Art for Akanksha, as she explains how the project Little Artists Present Great Artists was envisaged. In fact, the idea to extend the art works of these kids, emerged when Gupta realised that her students weren't able to identify a style of their own.

Besides, they weren't exposed to different styles across different countries. "It was an exciting time; I noticed a spark by the third session. It was amazing to watch these kids realise and unravel their talent through these fine artists," she adds.

The children studied the artists and their art extensively and used the knowledge on their artworks that were used across existing products at the Akanksha store as well as new products, like coasters, mouse pads and clocks, that could carry these designs. A few of the designs were handpainted directly on products, including Van Gogh's Sunflowers on bangles, and other works on stools and benches.
