One killed, five injured as Ambassador rams into a tree; all the occupants were drunk
Drunk driving claimed another life in the Capital on Sunday. A 25-year-old man was killed, and five of his associates suffered critical injuries when their car ran into a tree right in front of Defence Minister AK Antony's bungalow in Tughlak Road area of New Delhi. All the occupants of the car, including the driver, were in an inebriated state.

The Ambassador reportedly belongs to Julian Parr, a resident of UK, who was in Kolkata at the time of the incident. His chauffeur Sachin Kumar took the car in the owner's absence and accompanied his friends to a wedding. The incident occurred while they were on their way back.
The deceased has been identified as Ravi Verma (25).u00a0 He and four others injured are Kumar's friends. The incident took place at Sunehri Masjid Road at around 2 am.
"Sachin was feeling giddy. He was taking a sudden turn when the car went out of control and collided with a tree. The impact was tremendous as a crack developed on the bonnet of the vehicle. All those injured are in critical condition," said a senior police official.u00a0
A passer-by made a call on PCR that five persons were lying on the road soaked in blood after a car accident. Soon police reached the spot and all the victims were taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where Ravi Verma was declared brought dead. An FIR has been registered in this regard at Tughlak Road Police station.

In another accident, a 25-year-old software engineer lost his life while three of his friends were injured when the Hyundai i10 they were travelling in was hit by a truck from behind and got dragged up to few metres in Vasant Kunj area of south district in the early hours of Sunday. Police said that the victims were going to an eatery when the accident occurred at around 4 am. Police officials said that the deceased, identified as Rakesh, a native of Sonepat in Haryana, and his friends Himanshu, Ravinder Dahiya and Arun Upadhyay, were going to get some snacks in their company's canteen when they met with the accident. |
