Fans of Rohit Shetty have consistently pleaded with him to take on an increasing number of roles before the cameras. The filmmaker, it appears, is only willing to oblige. After his acclaimed turn as host of a reality show earlier this year, Shetty is set to make his debut as an awards show host.

The director consented to helm the Zee Cine Awards, which will be held on December 19. A member of the organising team tells mid-day, "Rohit has the gift of the gab. His humour is dry and wicked." Accompanying him will be comedian Sunil Grover. Their pairing, the source says, is bound to inspire laughs. "They are as different as chalk and cheese. Rohit is naturally sarcastic and quirky. But, he is warm, so, you take it well."

Shetty confirmed the development to mid-day stating that hosting is among the jobs that he now loves. Like his actors do for his films, Shetty, too, has been indulging in a fair share of preparation for his new role. Sources say buddy Karan Johar, with his years of experience as host of shows, is giving him valuable tips. "Rohit has also been going through the script," the source says.
