Black clouds are finally closing in, and your wait to seek refuge for the weekend at some rainy, green getaway is over.
Weathermen say this is the time to take off for Lonavla, Khandala, Malshej ghat, Matheran and what have you.
For, the weather bureau has predicted continuous rainfall for the city and its surrounding areas over the 48 hours, as nimbus clouds are moving from the northern and southern coastal parts of the country in on the metropolis.
Their progress will bring rains to the city and its neighbouring areas.
V K Rajeev, director, India Meteorological Department, Mumbai, said, "It has been raining since last morning and the monsoon has at last arrived. There was a long lull as there was no movement of clouds.
At last, we have found the clouds shifting from the northern and coastal regions to the state. This will also bring rains to Gujarat and Goa."
Asked about the water shortage in the city, he said, "People were just getting anxious because it hadn't rained until now. There are two more months of the monsoon.
The conditions have turned more favourable now." Friday's rainfall was recorded as 33.5 mm in Colaba and 101 mm in Santacruz.
The weather bureau head added that there would be good rains over the next 48 hours, though it wouldn't be anything extraordinary.
Heavier rains are expected in some places in the city on Sunday. With two more months for the monsoon to last, the city can expect better rainfall in the coming days.

Over the next 48 hours, frequent spells of rain or thundershowers would occur in parts of the city and the suburbs. Heavy rains are expected in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 29C and 24C.
