Have you noticed that public announcements at Central and Harbour Line railway stations have become distinctly clearer? The welcome change is the result of a Rs 22-lakh investment in upgrading announcement


systems after repeated complaints by commuters about the harsh public announcements.





There is better coordination between the announcement and the display on the platform indicators.

A N Shenoy, a regular commuter from Ghatkopar, said, "I am glad that now, unlike earlier, what is being announced on the system is the same as what is being displayed on the indicator. They have not made the mistake for some time now."

The upgradation began two months ago and is expected to take anotheru00a0 month.u00a0 Sriniwas Mudgerikar, spokesperson, CR, said, "After the upgradation, the voice quality of public announcements has improved and the noise levels are substantially lower." Most of the new public announcements are repeats of recorded messages made by one male and one female announcer.

Mrugaya Patil, who regularly commutes between Kalyan and Thane, said, "I was pleasantly surprised to hear the new announcements. In the past, it was difficult to understand what was being announced."
