4 history-sheeters looted jewellery worth Rs 39 lakh from a Khar store on Jan 28; CCTV cams in shop had captured the heist
The Nirmal Nagar police nabbed a gang of four involved in a Rs 39 lakh-theft on January 28 at a jewellery store in Khar, on Saturday evening. The accused, Parshuram Chaudhary (32), Rakesh Rai (28), Rajesh Maurya (37) and Raju Thakur (29), were nabbed from Mira Road and Nalasopara.

According to the police, the accused entered the shop after breaking the back grill. The gang members have over 50 cases registered against them at various police stations in and around Mumbai. They would frequent bars near Western Express Highway after Mira Road and spend money on bar girls following the heists regularly, the police said.
They were also fond of wearing good clothes and roaming around in cars. Reportedly, the group would plan another robbery only when their money supply would run low. They targeted isolated shops and would frequent the spot days before the actual theft.
On the basis of a tip off, the police first arrested Maurya and Thakur. During the course of investigation, the duo gave the location of Chaudhary and Rai who were subsequently arrested. They were produced in court yesterday and were remanded to police custody. Further investigations are on to recover the stolen valuables from them.

On January 28, the gang had robbed jewellery worth Rs 39.11 lakh from Abhishek Jewellers in Khar (East). The CCTV cameras in the store had captured the heist.
