In the report 'Ali goes missing', hitlist was the first to tell you how Pakistani singer-actor Ali Zafar won't be included in the trailer of 'Dear Zindagi'. A source close to him in Pakistan had also confirmed the news. Now, the film's director Gauri Shinde has revealed that plans of a trailer have been dropped; they will release a series of teasers instead. The first one will be unveiled today.

Says Gauri, "We have decided not to take the conventional route for this movie. We will release small videos titled Dear Zindagi take 1, take 2, take 3, and so on. I am not too sure if it can be called a new marketing strategy, but the idea is to invite the viewer bit by bit into the experience of the film."

The director credits SRK also a co-producer of the film, for the novel idea. "It was Shah Rukh's suggestion and I was with him on that. Some believe that trailers should clearly tell viewers the story of the film, but I feel any promotion should make them want to watch the film in the theatre to find out what it is all about. Knowing it all kills the magic of cinema," she adds.

The film revolves around Kaira, a budding cinematographer in search of a perfect life. A chance encounter helps her gain new perspective, as she discovers that happiness is all about finding comfort in life's imperfections. The film also stars Kunal Kapoor, Angad Bedi and Aditya Roy Kapur alongside Alia Bhatt, who will play the lead role.
