Radisson staff seized guns and cartridges during routine checking
The room number 448 of the five-star Radisson hotel, situated near the Delhi international airport, is under close police scrutiny after arms and ammunition were seized from there on Tuesday evening.
Some foreign tourists, who were staying in the room, had checked out on May 25 at around 7 pm. After they were gone, the hotel staff found two pistols, a magazine and at least 20 cartridges kept in a polythene bag under the bed, hotel sources confirmed to MiD DAY. The police were immediately called in and the cops took the arms in their custody.
"We had received a message about weapons recovery in Hotel Radisson on Tuesday evening at around 8 pm. Our team immediately reached the hotel and seized the weapons. We are investigating the case and have registered an FIR under Arms Act against unidentified persons. We are trying to find out the details of the people who stayed in room No. 448 in the last 2-3 days" an officer said.
The cops are questioning some "suspects", police sources told MiD DAY.
"We are fully cooperating with the police and have provided them the details of the guests who had stayed in the room during the last three days," said a hotel official, requesting anonymity.
Asked if there was any terror angle to the case, the police said, "It's difficult to say anything conclusive at this point of time, but we are looking very keenly into the details available to us."
"We never allow anyone to enter the hotel without proper checking. We have door-framed metal detectors at the entrance and security guards check the luggage of patrons. We don't know how somebody managed to carry weapons into the hotel" the hotel official added.
