Gurgaon still too far?

Train develops technical snag at Chawri Bazar station, operations delayed by 45 minutes

Train services were affected for the third consecutive day since the Metro started running between Gurgaon and Jahangirpuri. On Sunday evening at around 5 pm, a Delhi Metro train coming from Gurgaon stopped at Chawri Bazar Metro station, however, but even after repeated tries, refused to budge any further.

Fortunately, this time the train did not stop in a tunnel and passengers were not stuck inside.

"The train developed some technical snag. It was a newly bought Bombardier train. Apparently, its motors got jammed. However, the exact reason would be known only when proper checking is done," said a senior operations department official who wished not to be named.

The train operator tried to start it. However, he failed. Later on a few engineers also tried to rectify the snag. But that did not work either. "Finally a train was called in to tow this train. However, the engineers who had come in that Metro train rectified the snag and no towing was required," said the official.

Operations were affected for around 45 minutes on the Gurgaon- Jahangirpuri Line.

STUCK IN TRANSIT
The incident happened a week after the Rakshabandhan chaos which resulted in mayhem as over a thousand people got stranded in a tunnel and lakhs on the entire network.
"On Rakshabandhan the train got stuck inside a tunnel and was removed only after towing it away.u00a0 The problem got compounded that day due to heavy rush. As it was a lean day on Sunday the problem was not that big due to low passenger volume," added the official.
Delhi Metro trains had developed technical snags after the commercial operation was started on Friday and train services were affected on Saturday as well on the same line.
