Haryana Cricket Association not sulking over Sehwag's decision

THE players versus Delhi and District Cricket Association officials face-off triggered by Virender Sehwag's demand for fairness in selection process reached an amicable solution yesterday.

Sehwag had alleged that there was corruption and nepotism in the selection process at DDCA and the star Indian opener had threatened to quit the Delhi Ranji team to represent Haryana in domestic cricket if things did not change.

Sehwag's statement of his preference for Delhi's neighbouring state created some excitement in the Haryana cricket fraternity as it had raised hopes of the dashing opener playing for them.

The DDCA president Arun Jaitley's successful meeting with Sehwag has ended Haryana's hopes of the star batsman switching over. However, Haryana Cricket Association is not sulking.

HCA secretary Anirudh Chaudhary told MiD DAY: "I had always maintained that things should be sorted out. It is an internal matter (of the DDCA). I am happy it has been sorted out. It's good for DDCA, good for Sehwag and good for the Delhi youngsters who will learn from Sehwag."

Asked if there was some disappointment among the Haryana cricket fraternity of missing out on the services of Sehwag. "Sehwag had himself stated that he was interested in playing for Haryana. We were never in the picture," said Chaudhary.
