Global warming has become a burning issue across the world but in spite of major promotions, trees are still being chopped mercilessly. In a small effort to create further awareness, Pune Tree Watch has organised a range of activities featuring paintings, sculptures, poetry, music, drama, film, photography and books.

The event is on for the last one week but today's line-up includes an exhibition of paintings and sculptures as well as workshops. On display will be works by city artists like Ritika Zharotia, Madhvi Kolte and Gauri Gandhi and photographs by the late Yogesh Desai.
"It's a great platform for artists like us to spread the message that trees are an integral part of our life. By chopping them, we are creating trouble for ourselves. The message is mostly for the youth who are taking such issues very lightly," says Zharotia.
Around 30 photographs on nature, eight sculptures and nine paintings will be on display. The event will be followed by a workshop by Madhvi who will teach amateurs and art lovers how to sculpt trees and plants. The exhibition will also pay tribute to Desai for his contribution to nature photography.u00a0u00a0
