On February 8 police had received information that a drug trafficker will come near Gurdwara Bangla Sahib in Connaught Place to deliver heroin to a customer. A trap was laid and twenty-year-old Ashfaq, a resident of Madhya Pradesh, was nabbed. A large amount of the drug was recovered from his possession.
"The accused was interrogated and a case registered against him. He disclosed that he hails from a poor family and he had to take up drug peddling to support his family. He worked for Guddu alias Lala, a resident of Madhya Pradesh. He got Rs 5000-10000 for delivery of each consignment. He has been working as a courier for the last two years. Further investigations are being done in the case," said Ashok Chand, DCP Crime & Railways.
