Hide! You are about to get shot

Paparazzi is passe. The latest trend is to upload pictures of youngsters partying on the Net. The next target could be you

You have seen pictures of Paris Hilton and Britney Spears caught partying without underwear. Very soon it could be you!

Paparazzi is passe. The latest trend is to hire photographers and take pictures at clubs of youngsters, but thankfully, with their permission. These pictures are not only sent to individuals, but are also uploaded on social networking website India Nightlife (https://www.india-nightlife.com/ or https://www.innl.in/).

The first victims of the website are already emerging. A 19-year-old girl ended her month-old relationship with her boyfriend when she saw his photos on the website partying at a club. The boyfriend had lied to her and said he was at home.

This social networking site gets the maximum hits on weekends when youngsters log on to the site to check weekend party pictures of themselves and friends.

It is a known trend in the West, catching up in India. The website is owned by Anders Laustsen, a Denmark national. Having started the site in June 2008, the site has more than 11,000 users, in less than a year. A productivity manager by profession, Anders works on this website during his free time in night. He says, "The photographers click pictures only with permission, and if somebody has a problem with the pictures and informs us, we delete the pictures within half an hour." But that may just be too late.

With permission

Siddharth Singh (19) says, "I go clubbing every Friday. On Saturday mornings, I am hooked to https://www.innl.in/, browsing through last night's pictures. It gives me information about my friends' whereabouts. It keeps me updated with people and their socialising network in clubs." He adds, "Although pictures are clicked with permission, at times some other people are captured in the frame, which might be a problem for them."

Jyoti Chadha (17), a regular at clubs, says, "I am a regular user of this website. It is very simple to download pictures from this site and save it on our computer. It keeps me free from the hassle of carrying a digicam with me in a club."

Keeping a tab

Sohit Shetty (18) is a regular on the website to have a look at the new crowd.

He says, "I am not a registered user, but I have a lot of pictures of mine on that site, since I have been clicked with a lot of friends."

Cheyenne Mehrji (19) is on the site every Sunday morning, checking her clubbing pics over the weekend. She says, "Luckily, none of my friends have been caught because we make sure we don't let them click us. But at the same time it helps me to keep a tab on other people, who went where and with who."

Imported idea
Even though India night is the first website of its kind in India, it's a common feature abroad. In Miami, USA, miamiparties.com is a very popular website with party-goers.

Similarly, www.midnightloungeevents.com in London and mumtazz.com in Dubai keep clubbers updated with party pictures.
