Adelaide: Pakistan's former World Cup captain Wasim Akram attributed his team's sixth loss to India at the World Cup to a disciplined effort from the Indians here yesterday.

"Pakistan bowled with discipline initially and India responded brilliantly to that with disciplined batting. There is where I thought Pakistan lost," Akram said.

While acknowledging the Waqar Younis-coached team's inexperience, Akram felt that they lacked in planning something that the Indians scored over in convincing fashion.
"It appeared that India planned very well and more importantly, they executed those plans. A total of 300 was a bit too much for Pakistan to chase down. If Virat Kohli scores, India win," said Akram.
The Sultan of Swing was quick to accept that he is a part of Pakistan's no-win World Cup record against India.
'Remember the '92 WC'
"I remember the 1992 loss to India in Sydney but we turned things around and went on to win the Cup under Imran. There is no reason why this side cannot comeback strongly. I am sure they can," said Akram, after his commentary duty for the night.
"On this big stage, Pakistan can work things out. The format is such that a big team won't go out of the competition early and once you reach the quarter-finals, the team that plays better on the day advances, so anything can happen," he added.
