With the World Cup just a few days away, cricket buff Imtiaz Ali is keeping his fingers crossed. Although he rues the fact that he'll be busy working during the championship, he is pretty sure that he's going to make time for cricket even in his busy schedule. In fact, it'll only serve as a stressbuster. CS caught up with him at a recent sports event:
Having a ball
I've always been a sports enthusiast ever since I was a kid. In school and college, I was big time into basketball. And I would take my practice and matches very seriously. Even though I don't get to try my hand at the sport anymore, I encourage my daughter to stay active. I keep telling her that even if she wants to pursue a career in academia, she should still play at least one sport.
Adventure trails
Though I love adventure, I am not much of an adventure sports person. Come to think of it, I would like to plan that kind of a trip in the future. But, for me travel is synonymous with taking in the vibe and the beauty of a place and roughing it out. Hence, the train connection that you might have noticed in Jab We Met. As a kid, that was the only form of travel that we were used to, so I do have some very special travel memories. It's my dream to start my own travel series on TV or on the Internet. I hope it takes shape one day.

Dil in Delhi
Recently I was shooting in Kashmir and I fell in love with that place all over again. It's just so beautiful. The other place that I love shooting in is Delhiu00a0-- you know the odd corners of the city that are seemingly nondescript. My fascination with Delhi is strictly because I know a lot about the city and its character. Since I studied there, I know every nook and corner and every shortcut possible. It's always fun shooting in a place that is so familiar to you. After all you can only tell a story that you already know.
