The fourth annual Vinod Doshi Memorial Theatre festival starts from February 27 and will feature five plays this year
The 4th Annual Vinod Doshi Memorial Theatre Festival, which is one of the most awaited and prestigious festivals in the city, is back with a latest power-packed edition featuring a mix of Marathi and Hindi plays. The event has been organised in the honour of late Chairman Vinod Doshi to celebrate his passion for theatre.
His wife, Saryu Doshi, reminisces, "My husband was very interested in experimental theatre. After returning from the US, his passion for this genre took a new turn and we actively started working in the Marathi theatre circuit and got involved in the theatre movement."
The plays that will be staged during the festival include Stories In A Song (Hindi) directed by Sunil Shanbag, Preth (Hindi) directed by Gopal Dutt and Purva Naresh, Aalbel (Marathi) directed by Sai Paranjape, Bandhlelyachi Manogata (Marathi) directed by Praveen Bhole and Comrade Kumbhakarna (Hindi) directed by Mohit Takalkar.

Speaking about her contribution to the festival, director Sai Paranjape says, "I am honoured to work on an event that honours Vinod Doshi as he helped me a lot to make my career in Mumbai as well as Delhi."
The theme of the festival is humanity and all the plays deal with Indian art and politics. One of the playsu00a0-- Bandhlelyachi Manogatau00a0-- deals with the implementation of Greek mythology in India. Most of the plays will be performed for the first time in Pune.
