Things just seem to be getting from bad to worse for the Indian football team, who areu00a0 currently in a training camp in Dubai preparing for the Asia Cup.

The tournament is just 11 days away and the Indian players have not yet received their new kits.

The supplier had arranged for the kits but they had them delivered from Israel. There is a ban on Israeli products in UAE. Due to this political embargo, it will be a while before the team members get their kits.u00a0u00a0

The Indian team management has requested the supplier to send the attire from elsewhere. A senior India footballer told MiD DAY from Dubai: "Right now, we are using our old gear. We hope the team management deals with it soon." Indian team manager Pradip Choudhury, who returned to Kolkata two days ago from Dubai (after a spat with coach Bob Houghton), told MiD DAY that this problem started before he left.

"The supplier was unaware of UAE's ban on Israeli products. We too did not know about the law. We have spoken to the supplier and they have promised to send new kits that are made in Bangkok or Taiwan," he said.

India play their first group stage match in the Asia Cup on January 10 against Australia.
