It's International Tiger Day, also known as Global Tiger Day, is an annual celebration to raise awareness for tiger conservation.
It's a day to bring worldwide attention to the conservation of tigers.
The majestic tiger with its distinctive orange and black stripes strikes awe and fear in the hearts of any who see it. But their numbers are steadily declining. Of the 100,000 tigers that once roamed in the wild a century ago, only 3,890 are left behind, the World Wide Fund (WWF) for Nature has revealed in a 2016 report.
Hopefully, we will come to our senses and take steps to protect the big cat.
But let's take a lighter look at this day that celebrates tigers with a compilation of 'tigers' who roam in the cities and have brought fame and respect or infamy to this name.

Another time they roared magnificently was during the 1999 World Cup, when the Tigers, led by Akram Khan, beat Pakistan by 62 runs. Asia Cup 2012 was also special since Bangladesh reached the final of the tournament after beating India and Sri Lanka in the group stage. Bangladesh are slowly but surely proving that they can no longer be called minnows, at least in the limited overs format.
