But skipper Gautam Gambhir confident of Kolkata Knight Riders getting back at Sharma’s Mumbai Indians after Eden Gardens loss on April 13
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Gautam Gambhir made it clear that his in-form team, particularly the bowling attack, are ready with a plan to counter Mumbai Indians’ (MI) batting order in today’s Indian Premier League match at Wankhede Stadium.
Gambhir stressed that they have a plan for every batsman and just not his opposite number Rohit Sharma. “I think we have a plan for everyone, it’s not about Rohit. He is a quality player and has scored a lot of runs, but at the same time, we have a quality attack. If we can bowl and field well, I see us creating a lot of opportunities,” Gambhir said at the pre-match press conference yesterday.
Two-time champions KKR are leading the points table with four wins and one defeat. However, they lost to Mumbai Indians on April 13 at the Eden Gardens where Rohit played a match-winning knock of 84 in just 54 balls. “One game doesn’t define the side we are. But sometimes, you need to give credit to the opposition as well. Rohit is a quality player.

He was the one who took the game away from us. If someone from the top three bats through the innings, most of the time the team will end up winning the game. That is what he did. After that loss, we have won three games on the trot. I think we are in pretty good form and hopefully we can continue that,” said KKR skipper.
KKR have in their ranks Mumbai lad Suryakumar Yadav, who played a match-winning knock of 68 against Pune on Sunday. Surya is someone who is so versatile that he gives us a lot of options. We can promote him at No 3 or could make him finish the game for us. He performed both roles pretty well. Hopefully, we can continue and see how he goes at No 3,” said Gambhir.
