'It's Shiv Sena and BJP's responsibility to fix Mumbai pothole problem'

BMC panel chief Rahul Shewale feels all government agencies and the ruling alliance in BMC need to put up a coordinated effort to solve Mumbai's pothole problem.

Taking a serious note of the potholes menace on Mumbai’s roads, Standing Committee Chairman Rahul Shewale on Tuesday shot off a letter tou00a0Municipal Commissioner Sitaram Kunte asking him to call officials from concerned government agencies for a meeting of the panel tomorrow.


In the letter, he asked Kunte to request the officials from MMRDA, MSRDC, PWD and Aarey Dairy, Goregaon, to attend the standing committee meeting on the issue.


"Potholes on roads have become a big issue of discussion. We are faced with criticism from the media and political leaders," Shewale, chief of the Standing Committee, said in the letter.u00a0


Shewale blamed overloaded vehicles for potholes and said since the Shiv Sena-BJP is in power in the BMC, it was their responsibility to fix the problem.

"Whatever it may be, we have to fill the potholes by working day and night."

He asked Kunte to call the officials from Government agencies like MMRDA, MSRDC, BPT and PWD to attend the weekly meeting of the committee to be held tomorrow.
