Though the Indian Premier League's 11th edition is still four months away and its mega auction is also awaited, the talent-hunting process for the franchise begun a while ago. Mumbai Indians' long-serving India former coach, John Wright watched the Day Three proceedings of the Mumbai versus Karnataka Ranji Trophy quarter-final here on Saturday in his quest to zero in on some future players.

"Nowadays it's good to play all three formats and it's great to see some of the shots that are played in T20 cricket," said Wright when asked if teenagers should play the shortest form of the game. And about talent-hunting in four-day games, Wright said, "It is easier to judge a bowler's skill in four-day matches — can he send down a slower one, can he bowl a yorker?"
