On Saturday, mid-day had carried a front page report on the Borivli GRP being shaken by the kidnapping of the lady constable, despite offering her protection following a sexual harassment and threat complaint she had filed against her colleague, Pravin Sonawane, in October 2014.

On January 6, around 11.40 pm, the police was alerted about the kidnapping after Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Patil from the Borivli GRP received this text message: I am kidnapping the victim and her husband on the order of constable Pravin Sonawane.

Sources reveal that the victim and her husband are uncooperative with the investigation. The victim stated that she would speak directly with the GRP Commissioner.

Sonawane is a suspect in this case, but the police are exploring all angles. Sources have hinted at the possible staging of the kidnapping since Sonawane was directly accused in the SMS.
