Kucch Luv Jaisaa was a movie to look forward to for two reasonsu00a0-- one, it is a small film and two, it has been directed by a woman. Unfortunately enough, the film disappoints on both counts. The premise of the story is interesting: what happens when a woman in a safe but loveless marriage meets an exciting and reckless criminal. Sadly, that's about it. 
When Madhu (Shefali Shah; hamming her way through the film) realises that she has spent most of her life in the service of her children, who have now gotten busy and a husband (Sumeet Raghavan), who takes her for granted, she decides to go out and have a life of her own.u00a0 Her idea of having a life, however, is cutting her hair short and changing from a behenji type salwar kurta into a cleavage-flaunting short dress. And yes, randomly interrogating a stranger on how he got a scar on his forehead. Even while her husband is toiling in his office, asking whoever passes his way about what they think an average woman wants and likes. Oh and the husband is a bigger criminal. He has forgotten her birthday, which mind you, falls on February 29 and can be celebrated only once in four years.
What could have been an interesting tale of twists and turns, ends up being a shallow (and largely dumbed down) woman's so called 'adventurous' journey with a criminal type, Raghav Passport (Rahul Bose, who didn't even bother to act in the movie) who is pining for his starlet of a girlfriend (Neetu Chandra, in garish make-up and an apology of a role). 
The police is apparently on Raghav's trail, but he is doing his own thing in his own sweet time, wolfing down biryanis and brandishing his pistol once in a while. The couple goes on a wild goose chase of a man wearing a yellow t-shirt and ends up spending time in a resort room.
If you think the plot is going haywire, you have to hear the dialogues. 'Ek aurat shaadi ke baad chandramukhi hoti hai, phir surajmukhi hoti hai, phir jwalamukhi hoti hai'. Another one goes, 'Ek middle class housewife kya khareed sakti hai ufffd.phool aur ek frame?' and 'Nail polish (if you please) ek aurat ka dost hota hai'.
While busy yawning through this two-hour plus movie, I kept wondering, which women are they talking about? Is there a woman who gets so excited at the sight of a detective that she follows him into a hotel room? Is there a woman out there who thinks she has found some purpose in life, only if she struts around in high heels? If these women do exist, I am glad I haven't met them yet.u00a0u00a0
Oh yes, the music was hummable and lyrics were nice.u00a0u00a0
