Mohammad Al Mulaifi was found guilty of the charges of insulting a segment of the Kuwaiti society by claiming that they had allegiance to other countries based on their historic backgrounds and religious beliefs, Gulf News reports.

Al Mulaifi was also charged with denigrating the Shiite sect, disseminating false information and attacking a lawmaker.

Several Shiite MPs and citizens urged the government to take legal action against Al Mulaifi in February, accusing him of undermining social peace and instigating internal conflicts.
