Presented once a month, Palettes is a series of documentaries by director Alain Jaubert, that explores great paintings throughout the history of art.

From the canvas, to the type of brush used by the artist, the historical or individual context of the painting to the characters displayed in its features — the screenings would uncover the technique of art and endless secrets a work can hide.

Credited for abstract works, Kandinsky’s most important painting; Yellow, Red, Blue, will be featured in the screening, Figures De L’invisible. This painting is said to sum up all of Kandinsky teachings of art.

The other screening, Ten Lizes, will explore the art of Andy Warhol, remembered for the Pop art culture.

One of the most important works of Warhol was the ten identical faces of actress Elizabeth Taylor painted on a large canvas.

The film analyses his works, along with its secret history and surprising implications.

On: Thursday, June 25, 6.30-7.30 pm
At: Education Centre, Dr Bhau Daji Lad City Museum, Dr B Ambedkar Road, Byculla (E).
