Let the battle begin

Starting today, Dota 2 fans in Mumbai will battle for a cash prize of Rs 1.7 lakh

If you are a fan of the multiple-player video game, Dota 2, saddle up as Mumbai is all set to host a gaming championship, dedicated to this battle arena game.

Organised by Taiwan Excellence, a consortium of Taiwanese companies, Taiwan Excellence Gaming Cup (TEGC), is back for its second edition, and with a cash prize of Rs 1.7 lakh for the winner.

The championship finished the elimination rounds in Delhi last month, and has travelled to the city to select the best Dota 2 players in Mumbai, ahead of the grand finale on September 18 and 19, which will be held in Mumbai as well.

Participants can sign up for the elimination rounds (in Mumbai from today till September 6 at Gear Up and from September 11 to 13, at Accuracy Gaming) on the spot. The elimination rounds will take place in a pre-set schedule in an offline set-up.

Participants can register online as well, however, they are required to be present at the venue on September 4 to confirm their participation in the challenge. The winner of the championship will receive a cash prize of Rs 1.7 lakhs, followed by Rs 90,000 for the first runner up, Rs 40,000 for the second and third runner up teams.
