50 GOP national security experts rally against party candidate in an open letter and say that if elected, the reality TV star would make ‘the most reckless president in American history’
Washington: After a horrendous last week, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s woes are far from over. In what appears to be one of the first concerted effort from within the GOP to denounce Trump, 50 top Republican national security experts, including veterans from Nixon to Bush administrations, have come out openly against him, stating equivocally that he would make “the most reckless president in American history” if elected. The reality TV star “lacks” the required character, values and self-control, said the group as it listed “dangerous qualities” in an individual “who aspires to command the US nuclear arsenal”.

“None of us will vote for Donald Trump,” said the group, which includes former homeland security chiefs, intelligence directors, senior presidential advisors and a former US trade representative.
They signed an open letter that states Trump as President would “weaken the US’ moral authority”, adding further that Trump has shown no interest in educating himself.
“He lacks self-control and acts impetuously. He cannot tolerate personal criticism. He has alarmed our closest allies with his erratic behaviour,” they barbed.
Trump hit back at the rejection, calling the group “nothing more than failed Washington elite looking to hold onto power” and saying they should be “held accountable” for making the world less safe.
This setback was followed by top Republican Senator Susan Collins saying she would not vote for him as he lacks the “temperament” required for the post.
