Kolkata: A class 10 student of the city's Scottish Church Collegiate School allegedly went missing from the school prompting parents and guardians to stage demonstrations at the institution on Monday.

While the family have lodged a police complaint alleging Biseswar Pal has been untraceable since Saturday when he went to the school, the institution has denied any responsibility claiming the student was suspended by the school in July on disciplinary grounds.

"A case of kidnapping has been registered. The family has claimed the boy has been missing since Saturday from the school. However, according to the school, the boy was suspended in July and has not been allowed to attend the classes since then," said a police officer.

According to the school principal Bivash Saniel, Pal was suspended on July 8 after he was caught tampering with his mark-sheet. Alleging foul play, the family members of Pal have claimed they were never informed about the suspension and he used to regularly attend the school.

"We would regularly drop him to school and pick up after the school was over. On Saturday too we had dropped hi but he has been untraceable since then. If he was really suspended then why did not the school inform us," said Arun Pal, the uncle of the 15-year old boy.

Alleging negligence and foul play, angry parents and guardians on the day staged protests at the school. They were later dispersed by police. The school authorities have rejected the charges asserting Pal's family was informed about the suspension.
