The results of the Maharashtra SSC examination were declared today.


Even as the state pass percentage of the Senior Secondary Certificate (SSC) was 78.66, Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal is planning to scrap theu00a0 Class 10 board examination. According to Sibal, board exams are a source of trauma for both students and parents.


The pass percentage figure stood at 85.30 for Mumbai division.


Shilpa Basavraj Hiremath of Latur scored 98.61 per cent to emerge overall topper in Maharashtra, while Sonali Shantrama Chavan of Saraswati Secondary School in Thane topped the Mumbai division with 96.46 per cent.

Anjali Anant Jadhav of A P Goregaonkar Engineering School, Goregaon, topped the list of backward class category in Mumbai division with 95.84 per cent.

Sonal Ramprakash Singh of Canoca Night School, Mahim, scored 84.15 per cent to bag the first rank among the night school students.

In the handicapped category, Navneet Bajaj Merol of Sane Guruji English Medium School, Dadar, was the topper with 94.61 per cent.
