The unidentified body of a man in his 30s was found near Porter's chawl in Pune railway station area last morning.u00a0The Bundgarden police said the person must have been murdered on Tuesday night.u00a0The police have also recovered empty bottles of alcohol and whitener from the spot.u00a0

The locals in the area alerted the police after they saw the blood-soaked body of a man lying on a mattress. The police rushed to the spot, conducted a panchnama and shifted the body to Sassoon hospital for autopsy.u00a0The police are yet to ascertain the identity of youth who was killed.u00a0

A wallet with an election card showing the card owner to be a resident of Jamnagar in Gujarat was recovered from the spot.u00a0The police said the election card was not enough to determine the identity of the person as they suspected the dead man could have been a pickpocket who might have laid hisu00a0hands on some commuter's wallet before the incident.u00a0

The locals said the murder might have happened as a result of dispute between pickpockets who assembled in the area often.u00a0Shailendra Chavan, a local political leader who alerted police, said the area had become a den for pickpockets who assembled there and indulged in addiction.u00a0
