The accused was trying to flee from his home when the police apprehended him
A 28-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for opening fire in south-east Delhi following a scuffle with three other people on Friday. According to police, the accused has been identified as Tushar Goyal, a graduate. He was apprehended from his house in Rajouri Garden area of west Delhi. "He was apprehended while he was trying to escape after seeing the police. His two friends, Sunil and Tinku, are still on the run," said a senior police
"On November 4, the trio had entered into an argument with Tej Bahadur, his cousin and a friend in New Friends Colony. Tushar and his friends then opened fire and threatened to kill the others. Raids were conducted at the suspected hide-outs of the three and investigation revealed that Tushar was staying with his family in Rajouri. A team conducted a raid but the house was locked. His wife came after sometime and told police that he was not at home," said Additional CP (south-east) Ajay Chaudhary.
Attempt to flee
"We saw him trying to escape from the backside of his house. He was arrested and interrogated. The police team recovered a 7.65 mm pistol along with two live rounds from his possession," Chaudhary added.
According to the police, another 9 mm pistol along with a live cartridge was also recovered, that was handed over by co-accused Sunil after escaping from the scene of crime. A four-wheeler having stickers "VIP Parking", "Delhi Vidhan Sabha", "Republic Day Parade" and "Advocate" on the front screen, red beacon on the roof top and a sticker "Gen Secretary" on the number plate has been impounded. The vehicle had black window panes.
