His only fault was that he accidentally stepped on his friend's foot. And on this 24-year-old Deepak was repeatedly stabbed by his friend . He has been admitted to a city hospital, police said on Sunday.

The incident occurred in a by-lane in outer Delhi's Sultanpuri - B block at around 10.30 p.m. on Saturday. Deepak and the attacker, Ravi (23), a confirmed drug addict, were drunk, police said.

Deepak was standing near the entrance to the by-lane leading his house when Ravi came over to meet him. As Deepak approached to greet him, he accidentally stepped on Ravi's foot, a senior police officer said. Both were drunk and an argument started. Ravi lost his temper, took a kitchen knife from his pocket and started attacking Deepak,' said the officer.

'Ravi had already stabbed the victim four times before onlookers intervened and rushed Deepak to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital. The assailant fled the scene,' the officer added. Ravi attempted to outsmart the police by lodging himself at a government-run de-addiction facility in the Khiradi area, from where he had only recently been released. 'We arrested Ravi from the rehab. He is also wanted in a snatching case registered in 2007,' the officer said.


Locked flats robbed

The flats were locked yet that didn't deter gang of robbers from breaking in and stealing the valuables in an apartment block in Delhi's Dwarka area.u00a0 The robbers escaped with cash and jewellery amounting to lakhs of rupees, police said on Sunday.
According to police, the theft was discovered Friday when one of the flat owners, Ashutosh Anand, a manager in a private company in Gurgaon, returned home with his family from Mumbai and found his flat in South Delhi Apartments in Sector 4 ransacked. 'A wooden cupboard was broken and Rs.10,000 in cash and jewellery worth Rs.5 lakh missing,' said a police officer.
Anand informed police, who reached the spot and found out that not only did the robbers target Anand's flat but also broke in into three others - all of whose occupants were out.
