The bail hearing of former minister in Narendra Modi government and accused in 2002 riot cases Maya Kodnani was adjourned till May 14 by a local court here on Thursday.

Kodnani, who is accused in Naroda Gam and Naorda Patiya cases, pertaining to the killing of 106 people during the post-Godhra riots, had applied for bail last month along with former VHP leader Jaydeep Patel, who is an accused in Naroda Gam case.

When the case came up for hearing in the court of sessions judge AK Aswani, the lawyer of Kodnani and Patel, Mitesh Amin, requested time to obtain court orders where the accused have been granted bail in 2002 riot cases.

Amin requested for couple of days' time, however, the court posted the matter for further hearing on May 14.

Supreme court-appointed special investigation team (SIT), probing some of the riot cases, has filed chargesheet against Kodnani in which she faced charges including murder in the Naroda Gam and Naroda Patiya cases last Friday.

She has been booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) 120 (B) for criminal conspiracy, 302 for murder, 307 for attempt to murder, 395 and 397 for loot and 143 to 147 for rioting and 201 for destruction of evidence.

Kodnani is in jail since March 27 after the Gujarat High Court cancelled her anticipatory bail, granted by a sessions court.
