The reason we don't appreciate Mexico or its food is because it reminds us too much of ourselves. But Mismo boasts the largest tequila collection. Reason enough to give it a visit.u00a0 
The lounge area
Without wasting any time, we began with an in-house specialty, a Jam Jar margarita (we ordered strawberry) and a drink they call Bloody Maria. As the name suggests, Jam Jar came in a refilled bottle of jam, cute, but extremely inconvenient because the bottle had too narrow a mouth, making it possible only to drink it with a straw. Not only do you need to taste the salt on the rim of a margarita glass, the strawberry flavour was not good enough.
The bloody Maria, though, was up to the mark.
We ate some Nachos Rancheros which, though the sour cream they were served with was good, were not cheesy enough. And moved on to more tequila. This time we did the shots: three amigos with kahlua and Bailey's was interesting as was the joy ride with Bacardi, vodka and cru00e8me de menthe. Unlike the usual glasses, the shots came in miniature mugs, once again too narrow to sip comfortably.
The prawns marinated with chipotle (a Mexican pepper they import from Mexico) chilly and tequila are a must-have. While we waited for the main course to arrive, we complained to the manager about the bad (and Mediterranean) music being played in a mainly Mexican restaurant. I say mainly because Mismo offers a Mediterranean menu too u2013 apparently as an afterthought as not too many customers are interested in just Mexican food.
Which is sad because Mismo has 'good grub' as they would say in those movies. The Chicken Quesadillas with smoked chicken and avocado salsa could have done with slightly more smoking but was good overall. There are a lot of options for vegetarians and the Enchiladas with stuffed vegetable will seem delicious even to staunch non-vegetarians.
But it is the chicken (or lamb) fajitasu00a0-- served on a sizzling platter with a literally finger licking method of eating it described in detail on the menuu00a0-- I recommend. And if you have room for dessert, do try the 'true' Mexican churros, not your gourmet fare but delicious nonetheless.
