A 20-year-old former warden with the traffic branch was held for allegedly raping a minor girl after the promise of marriage. Pranay Suryawanshi of Paudphata in Kothrud refused to marry the girl after learning that she is a minor.
u00a0“The youth was earlier working as a traffic warden with traffic branch. He developed an acquaintance with the girl in December 2011 and allegedly had sexual relations on several occasions after promising to marry her. He came to know she is a minor and refused to marry her.
This prompted the girl’s family to lodge a complaint,” said sub-inspector Bansilal Hile of Faraskhana police station. “We have arrested him under Section 376 of the IPC.”
