A day after his arrest, cops revealed that the aspiring model who flew in professionals from the Capital to run the chain-snatching racket, did it to keep his girlfriend happy

The aspiring model from Delhi, who moonlit as a chain-snatcher, allegedly did it to impress his girlfriend by splurging on her.

Tarun Kapoor's girlfriend, also a model, had broken up with him only because he could not spend on her, said police officials.

The motives came to light a day after Kapoor was arrested by the Andheri police for flying in professional robbers from the Capital to snatch gold chains and sell them to make easy money so he could afford the demands of the girl.

A team of the Andheri police left for Delhi to trace and nab Kapoor's two accomplices who fled to Delhi after snatching the gold chain from an MBA student near Imperial Hotel in Andheri (East) on Sunday.

MiD DAY reported about the incident yesterday ('High-flying chain snatchers grounded', August 2).

The police also said that Kapoor spent the entire cash from selling the booty on his girlfriend. In fact, a heartbroken Kapoor had also stolen a credit card in 2010 to keep the girl happy, but was arrested by the Powai police.

According to ACP Prakash Wadkar, "Kapoor had been dating a woman who dumped him because he was not able to spend on her.

A year ago, to make easy money, Kapoor had robbed a credit card and got arrested. After he came out of jail, he met Vishal Suri and Jasbeer Singh from Delhi and conspired to rob chains," said Wadkar.

Kapoor, who stays in Lokhandwala, would fly down the chain snatchers every two months and after four to five robberies in a day, would send them back, cops related.

However, he landed in the police net after an alert auto rickshaw driver who was ferrying Suri and Sigh complained to the police about the chain snatching.
