Leading national milk supplier Mother Dairy on Friday announced a Rs 2 per litre reduction in toned and double-toned milk in the city, effective May 30.
"The outlook for procurement prices of milk being stable, we took the decision of passing this benefit to the consumers by reducing our MRP by Rs 2 per litre," Mother Dairy said in a statement.
One litre of toned milk that was earlier available at Rs 38 will now cost Rs 36, while a litre of double-toned milk will be priced Rs 33 as against Rs 35 earlier.
The company has also reduced the prices of 500 ml milk, as the half litre toned milk will now cost Rs 18 instead of Rs 19 and the 500 ml doubled toned milk's price has been revised to Rs 16.50 from Rs 17.50 earlier.
The company, however, said it continues to ensure that the farmers get remunerative prices for their produce which is at par or above the Minimum Support Price set by the Maharashtra Government.
