The Mumbai crime branch detected a murder case by arresting an elder brother for killing his younger brother who used to harass family members after coming home drunk. To hide the murder he told the police that his younger brother had met with an accident and sustained glass injuries near his kidney.
The police arrested Jioan D'Souza, 28, a resident of Shastri nagar, Kanjurmarg East for killing his younger brother Jito Albert D'Souza, 24. According to the police the three brothers Jioan, Jito and Nizel, 31, stayed together in their Kanjurmarg home. "They had some properties that they had rented and used to get good rent out of it," said a police officer from the Mumbai Crime branch's Unit VII.

On 9th of July, Jito was brought to the Sion hospital by the other to elder brother's when doctor's questioned what happened to him. Jioan had said that he had meet with an accident while in drunken state and a glass piece had entered his body near the kidney.
Jito succumbed to his injuries on July 14 in the hospital. The hospital post mortem report said that the injuries in the kidney were due to a sharp object and most probably something like a knife. The police immediately started questioning the brothers and found discrepancies in the statements of the two elder brothers Nizel and Jioan.
On further questioning it was revealed that Jito, Jioan and Nizel drank together on 3rd of July. A drunk Jito then entered the house around mid-night and started abusing everybody he even kicked Nizel's wife Nikita, who is seven month's pregnant. This did not go well with Jioan as he was also beaten along with Nizel by Jito.
Later Jioan brought a knife from the kitchen and stabbed Jito three to four times on the right side of near the kidney. After they saw Jito bleeding they immediately hatched a plan to tell everyone that Jito meet with an accident but their lie was caught by the police.
"We have arrested Jioan and will be soon handing him to the KanjurMarg police who are investigating the murder case," said Shashikant Satav, deputy commissioner of police, Detection I of the Mumbai police.
