Man stabs wife

Frustrated with his wife for not letting him see their kids and not showing up in court for a custody case, a 38-year-old gym trainer tried to kill her by stabbing her in the stomach.

He also stabbed security guard who tried to save the 36-year-old wife, police said. However, the victims’ condition is stable.

According to police sources, the arrested accused has been identified as Suraj Yeshwant Rao. He allegedly stabbed his wife Mansi at the Quiescent Heights building she resides in at Link Road in Malad West, on Saturday morning around 11 am. He not only stabbed Mansi in the stomach but also did the same to the building’s 50-year-old security guard Ramjatan Gupta, who intervened when he stabbed Mansi. After injuring the two, Rao tried to flee but another security guard from the building caught him and handed him to the police.

Have two kids
Suraj and Mansi married each other in 2006 and have two kids — an 8-year-old daughter and a one-and-half-year-old son. They were staying in a rented flat at Quiescent Heights. They used to work in the same gym at Kandvli before their marriage. Later, they started working separately. However, since the last two years, cracks started appearing in their relationship after Suraj started doubting Mansi.

The couple then began living separately. Suraj moved out of the Malad home to his parents’ home in Borivli East, while Mansi was staying at their Malad home with the kids, said a police official from Bangurnagar police station.

Not allowed to meet kids
Rao has alleged that Mansi was not allowing him to meet their children. He had even moved court regarding the same seven months ago. Mansi was always absent at every hearing. This angered Suraj and in a fit of rage, he allegedly plotted to kill Mansi. He purchased a knife for the purpose and reached Quiescent Heights on Saturday morning and found Mansi near the lift. The couple had a heated argument during which Suraj stabbed Mansi in the stomach.
