Located beside the Indira Gandhi Musical Fountain, the monument is the first major post-Independence military memorial in the country. Chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, union minister of state for defence M M Pallam Raju, MPs Ananth Kumar andu00a0Rajeev Chandrashekar, Air Chief Marshal Fali Homi Major, Lieut. Gen. A K Lamba, Admiral Sureesh Mehta and others took part in the ceremony.
