Sandip Loharia alias Sunny, the son of NRI builder-cum-RTI activist Sunil Kumar (50) has claimed that he has been receiving threatening calls.
On Monday, Sunny registered an FIR with Turbhe police against an unknown caller.
“We have registered an FIR,” confirmed Suresh Bhosale, senior inspector, Turbhe police station.
Two assailants wearing security guard uniforms killed Sunny’s father on Saturday morning. The duo fired six rounds at him in Sector 28 in Vashi in Navi Mumbai.
According to Sunny (24), he received an ISD call at around 2pm on Monday. Sunny claimed that the caller threatened to eliminate the entire family if his name was discussed in the media in relation to the murder.
Sunny revealed the caller said, “Agar tumne dobara media me mera naam liya to poore khandaan ko thonk denge.”
After conducting his father’s last rites on Sunday, Sunny had had alleged that builder Suresh Bijlani and architect Anurag Garg were responsible for the killing.
According to police sources, the Navi Mumbai crime branch interrogated Suresh Bijlani, Anurag Garg, Vijay Gajra, SP Agarwal of Sunny real estate and Bhupesh Gupta on Monday evening.
Investigations into Sunil Kumar’s daylight murder have revealed that former encounter specialist Emmanuel Samuel Amolik masterminded it. Amolik was dismissed from the police force over alleged underworld links and then arrested for his involvement in a fake encounter.
Apart from Amolik, two other accused have been arrested. Investigations revealed that a total of four people executed the murderous attack at the behest of Amolik. While Wajid Qureshi and Vishwakarma Shettiar were captured on CCTV camera committing the murder, two others were waiting at a distance to help them. They are yet to be nabbed.
