Patil will be produced in court in connection with the Nimbalkar murder case

NCP leader Padmasinh Patil to be produced in court today

Nationalist Congress Party's Member of Parliament Padmasinh Patil will be produced in the Panvel court today.

After his medical check up at JJ Hospital, a team of CBI officials will be producing him before the court. Patil was arrested by the CBI late last night in connection with the murder of Congress leader Pawanraje Nimbalkar. He has been booked under sec 302 and 120B IPC. Patil is the sitting MP from Osmanabad.

On Saturday evening, a team of CBI officers arrested the Loksabha MP from his son Rana Jagjit Sinh's Malabar Hill residence.

Sugar factory scam

In 2005, Nimbalkar had exposed the sugar factory scam involving Osmanabad Bank and Patil's sugar factory. The scandal tarnished the NCP leader's reputation. It is alleged that this scandal led to Nimbalkar's murder on June 3, 2006 at Kalamboli. Nimbalkar's driver Samad Kazi was also killed in the attack.

According to reports, co-accused Mohan Shukla had given Parasmal Jain supari to kill Nimbalkar. Shukla promised to pay Rs 30 lakh for the murder. Once he received the supari, he hired people to execute the task.

Last year, the Bombay High Court ordered the CBI to investigate the case. So far, Mohan Shukla, Parasmal Jain, Dinesh Tiwari and Satish Mandade have been arrested in the case.u00a0
